What should I do if I am getting a car and mine is in my fathers name....

Additional Details

My car is in my fathers name. I am getting him to transfer it me. I then am going to sign it over to a guy who is even trading me for a Jeep Cherokee. Do I have to wait to transfer it or can I do it all the same day from my father to me to the man I am trading with? Can I turn in the plates since they are in his name and get new ones or is it cheaper and easier to transfer the ones i have to my name. I need to know what the easiest and cheapest way if possible.
