My mom is buying a car out state from a private party. Can I register the car for her at the dmv and drive back?
The car is in Kansas. I need to fly there and drive it back so she doesn't have to. Therefore can I register the car at the dmv there if she isn't present? If not can I somehow get a temporary interstate permit to drive it back to NY so she can register it there? Thanks a lot.

Look under the Motor Vehicle website for New York, They have information on how you can temporrary register the car by mail, Or you may be able to temporarily registar it in the state you are buying the car in. It might be easier to to do that. There are so many forms you need to fill out by doing it at New York. One more thing, if the car is already registared with a plate you may not have to registar it at all. You may only need to have proof of Insurance, and registar it when you get to New York. You never said it was a New or Used car?
