In MN isnt there a grace period when your tabs expire?

I thought there was a 10 day grace period for tabs to be renewed, is this true in MN?

You CAN get tagged for it on the first day following the expiration, but the violation will get waived if you pay the registration fees and taxes within 10 days of the violation.  Most cops wont tag until the 11th....

Quoting the applicable statute:  MN S168.09 subd.4 "Display. A vehicle registered under the monthly series system of registration shall display the plates and insignia issued within ten days of the first day of the month which commences the registration period."  THERE IS A 10 DAY GRACE PERIOD.  Of course the city of monticello is going to try to strong arm you into paying the fine.

Actually this has changed.  There is no longer a grace period for expired tabs.  On your renewal notice it states that your tabs are due on the last day of the month.  You can get a ticket on the 1st day of the following month.   MN Statue # 168.017 subd.2

u have 10 days after the first of whatever month it is on your license plate, so if your tabs read july 08 u have until july 10th, 2009 to get your new tabs.
