That's not true! In MA, if you fail emissions, you have 60 days to fix the problem. In those 60 days you are free to drive the car as you please. If you fail for safety (ex. brake lights, reverse lights, tires, rust, etc.) you are required to remove the car from the road IMMEDIATELY. You then have 60 days to fix the problem and reinspect the vehicle before MA assumes you are just driving it and suspends your registration. The place that gave you a rejection sticker should have explained this to you.
