If a truck is 26000 gvw (under CDL) with air brakes do you need a CDL license or endorsment or not??

Looking at 2000 Ford F650 26000 gvw with air brakes do I need a CDL with an air brake endorsement or not? I have had people tell me yes I do and others say no I just need a medical card can someone clear this up and maybe tell me where I can find the correct answer in a law book or something somewhere

No, you do not require a CDL for air brake equipped vehicle under 26,001 lbs, unless it is a passenger carrying vehicle with an occupancy over 15 persons, or if carrying hazardous materials. (Per FMCSA Part 383)  No medical is required either.  Be warned that, though rare, States can impose more strict requirements than that of the Federal regulations, so it's best to make a call to your State's DMV.BTW, I own and operate an air brake equipped 23,900 lb GVW vehicle on a non-commercial class C.
