DISABLED PARKING RULES IN CALIFORNIA

Hi, I live in Los Angeles and I have a temporary disabled parking placard from DMV. My company does not have local space for me to park for my daily job. A half a block away there is an office building with disabled parking spaces. Am I permitted to park in the office building's disabled parking space even though I am not employed there or have business there per se? I parked there twice only briefly and they left a note threatening to tow my car away. Is this legal and what are my options? I have osteoarthritis and its tough to hike the 1/3 of a mile to my company's normal parking spaces. Thanks so much for your attention and kind assistance.

The following DMV government page provides a wide variety of information regarding disabled parking rules:http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/fast_facts/ffvr07.htmHowever, it does not specify whether you can park in a parking lot where you are not doing any business in.  I would think that you cannot park there just in case an employee or visitor with a disabled parking placard needs to park there.I recommend that you contact the building manager at your office and find out if they can get a handicap parking space added to the parking lot.  If not, you may want to contact the DMV and your local law enforcement agency to find out if the other building has the right to tow your vehicle.Good luck!
