I bought a car but has past due registration fees, how can I register without having to pay them myself? 

Additional Details

I purchased a vehicle and apparently it had stolen stickers so I thought the registration was up to date, I went to DMV here in CA and they told me I had to pay $2800 to register the vehicle because it hadn't been registered since 2007. How can I register my vehicle without having to pay those fees.
