failed to show license due to unexpected happen I lost my wallet 20 min before, I also realized when I met police

I met the police officer in Reynolds GA on the way to Alabama from Savannah GA.
It was just regular checking every driver.
And I’ve asked to show driver’s license, but the problem is that until the police asked my driver’s license, I didn’t realized that I lost my wallet at the gas station just 20 minutes before I stopped by.
So I honestly told that situation to the police officer, and he wrote my name and date of birth to find my record, but about 20 minutes later he said that he couldn’t find my record and he asked me that I’ve really have the license.
I really didn’t understand why my record hadn’t appeared; even my license is valid until 31st of March 2010.
So I show my car insurance which is valid until 25th of August 2009.

But anyway police officer gave me the traffic citation, and noticed that I have to attend the court on July 8th in Reynolds GA, because I didn’t have the driver’s license and he couldn’t find my record.

I just worry about that I didn’t mean to my driver’s license was not with me, but I failed to show my license due to the unexpected mistake that I lost my wallet at the gas station during the long trip to Alabama from Savannah GA. But that night I found my wallet at the gas station with my sister, and I safely arrived in Alabama.

I totally understand that driver have to drive with license all the time, but It is hard to understand that why my driver’s license record didn’t appear.

I’ve ever got the ticket from police officer, and this is my first time to got traffic citation.

I wonder that it is any chance to show my license and proof by fax or mail before I attend the court.
And is there any chance that I don’t have to attend the court?
I really confused and worry what to do. Would you please help me what I can do for this situation?
